Over the past decade the number of men considering a hair transplant has increased drastically.
There are several reasons for this. First, improvements in the technology used to do the procedure have made it virtually risk-free. Additionally, surgeons (including our own Dr Shahmalak) have established a series of techniques and procedures which allow a transplant to be undertaken promptly without inhibiting safety.
For many potential patients this level of experience and expertise is reassuring.
Crown Clinic was established in 2007, since then we have been helping our patients achieve their desired looks. Dr Shahmalak is recognised globally as one of the pioneers of Hair Transplants (He performed the first ever eyelash transplant) and has appeared on several television and radio programmes discussing issues and sharing expertise around hair transplants.
As well as the advances made in recent years, the rise in popularity of hair transplants can be accredited to the number of celebrities and sports stars turning to hair transplant procedures. This includes actors such as Matthew McConaughey, Jude Law and Sylvester Stallone. Premier League stars like David Silva, Andros Townsend, Wayne Rooney, Antonio Conte and Jurgen Klopp have all undergone the procedure. David Beckham is also thought to have recently had work done.
Before any recommendation can be made, Dr Shahmalak will have a 20-minute consultation with every patient to ensure they are suitable for a transplant. In most case, everything will be fine to go ahead, but it’s important to clarify a number of details before an appointment.
Beards have been one of the biggest fashion trends of recent years and look as though they are here to stay and it’s more common than ever for men to long for a thick, luscious beard. Unfortunately, this just isn’t possible for everyone and a lot of men suffer from beard envy.
For this reason, it’s no surprise beard transplants are continuing to rise in popularity as they allow you to literally ‘fill in the gaps’ to do what mother nature can’t.
The procedure is very simple, hair is removed from another part of your body (usually the scalp) and transplanted to your beard-area. The grafts that are added to your face are permeant which means that if you decided to be cleanly shaven for a change, perhaps for a special occasion or a job interview, the hair would grow back at the thickness of the initial transplant.
If you’re worried that a beard transplant is a long, drawn-out affair then you should not be concerned. Firstly, a consultation with a surgeon can be arranged at your convenience. If you decide to go ahead with the procedure you can be seen fairly quickly. Plus, the recovery time is shorter than a normal (scalp) hair transplant. You will experience some swelling and soreness for a few days, but it should only inconvenience you for around a week.
The great thing about a beard transplant is it can be designed to your taste. Whether it’s designer stubble or the lumberjack hipster look you desire, our surgeon Dr Shahmalak can work to your requirements.
Surveys suggest that bearded men appear more confident and that many people associate a well-groomed facial growth with intelligence. Longer, thicker beards are associated with sensitivity and creativity
