What Is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Scalp micropigmentation can help those who have bald patches, receding hairlines or even scarring on the head. The tattoo can be used on other areas of the body, for example for women who have over plucked their eyebrows, micropigmentation can be used to thicken out the appearance of the brows.

 

Is scalp micropigmentation permanent?

 

The procedure can either be temporary or permanent depending on your desired results and usually costs around £2,000 -£3,000 for the procedure. There are plenty of pros and cons to both temporary and permanent, but it all comes down to how you want to style your hair long term.

 

How long does scalp micropigmentation take?

 

The overall procedure can take between 2 to 5 hours depending on how severe the balding is in the desired area. Some patients have also been known to have 2 or 3 sessions in order to get the final desired result.

 

Will the micropigmentation fade over time?


Scalp micropigmentation doesn’t use the same type of ink that is used in traditional tattoos, so the ink will not change colour over time. However, the ink can fade after a long period of time and may need to be topped up after around 10-15 years.

 

What results can I expect from a scalp micropigmentation procedure?


The scalp micropigmentation gives the appearance of a closely shaven head, by adding pigment where you would usually see short hair follicles grow. The procedure can help those that want to clearly define their hairline, but don’t want to undergo a FUE hair transplant or an FUT hair transplant.
