Have Celebrity Hair Transplants Increased the Number of FUE Procedures?

POSTED: 12 September 2011

Wayne Rooney is perhaps the best-known UK recipient of an FUE hair transplant, having been talked about in the media frequently since news of his procedure first broke. While other famous men have also had procedures in recent times – including actor James Nesbitt, chef Gordon Ramsay and Dancing on Ice judge Jason Gardiner – it is the Manchester United star that has really captured the public’s attention.

With on-pitch japery from Rooney involving him pointing at his lucky hair following a goal, interest in his operation has continued to grow. But have celebrity procedures such as his increased the number of people seriously looking into FUE hair transplants?

On this question Crown Cosma Clinic’s Dr Shahmalak commented: “Here at Crown Cosma Clinic we have had considerable interest in our FUE – follicular unit extraction – procedures ever since we first began carrying them out. The newspaper reports and TV interest in the hair transplants of Wayne Rooney and others have certainly inspired more people to contact us about our services. Having said that, interest in FUE was already very high, even without the spikes of interest caused by celebrity transplants.”

“Our reputation as one of the leading providers of quality FUE procedures has meant we’re often the first place people come to in order to find out more about having a procedure carried out. With myself ensuring continuity of patient care is provided at all times, and with clinics in London, Manchester and Birmingham, I’m happy to say many of those contacting us decide to place their trust in us – so we can give them the hair they really want.”
