Crown Clinic has had a long association with the model and actor Calum Best.
Next month he is coming in for his third hair transplant with us - each one performed by our internationally renowned surgeon Asim Shahmalak.
Calum's forthcoming procedure received some coverage in the media last week. You can read more about it here:
On the two previous occasions Calum had hair transplants at Crown Clinic, he opted for the Follicular Unit Extraction technique - the same procedure Wayne Rooney has had.
Men like Calum often like to wear their hair short and FUE limits any visible scarring on the scalp. If you wear your hair longer, this will hide any scarring - it is why men with longer hair tend to go for the Follicular Unit Traction method where a strip of skin is taken from the scalp and the hair follicles extracted. With FUE, the follicles are removed individually - it is much more time-consuming and therefore more expensive.
You probably wondering why Calum needs three transplants.
All the hair transplanted at Crown Clinic is permanent and will last Calum for the rest of his life. His problem is that he has continued to lose his natural hair.
He could have kept more of his natural hair if he had taken the clinically tested drug Propecia. However, 2% of patients who take Propecia say the drugs impacts on their sex life, and Calum was unwilling to take the drug.
Calum's career is built around his looks and, at 33, he is thrilled that he has been able to maintain his profile as a model by topping up his hairline with regular hair transplants.
Crown Clinic patients love reading about Calum's procedures.
We look forward to welcoming him again next month.
