Crown Clinic on TV

Posted in on Tue, March 04, 2014

Many of you may have seen our surgeon Asim Shahmalak on TV last week.

He had a very busy week of TV coverage - being featuring on Granada Reports over three nights, on the main ITV breakfast show Daybreak on Friday and on on the main ITN lunchtime news - screened across the whole ITV network on Friday afternoon.

Dave Brown, a highly talented cameraman from Granada Reports, had accompanied Dr Shahmalak on his mercy mission to Pakistan in January.

Dave filmed the Crown Clinic team over three days as they operated on six women who had suffered horrific acid attacks and were given eyebrow, eyelash and hair transplants by our own Dr Shahmalak.

Mel Barham, the brilliant Granada Reports journalist who has twice previously done reports on our work at the Crown Clinic, put together Dave Brown's moving footage in three unforgettable reports which concluded with Asim being interviewed in the studios last Friday night.

Mel has catalogued her reports and the phenomenal reaction on Twitter in this Storify link:

Mel also wrote a wonderful blog on the mercy mission.

Asim has been overwhelmed by the positive reaction to his work and hopes to return to Karachi very soon to help further innocent victims of acid attacks.
