Joanne had ripped out her eyelashes from a young age due to a condition called Trichotillomania which is far more common than many people think.

Dr Shahmalak performed two successful eyelash transplants on Joanne and even arranged for a beauty consultant to meet her and advise how to look after her new eyelashes.

Joanne’s story was featured in a talk Dr Shahmalak gave this week to the prestigiuos Trichological Society. He was invited to talk to its members because he is well known as one of the real pioneers of  British hair transplant surgery.

Joanne wasn’t the only Crown Clinic patient in the news this week.

Our patient Claire Culverwell was in a wonderful two-page spread in Look magazine telling the story of her eyelash transplant at Crown Clinic.

Claire had overplucked her eyebrows, leading to permanent damage. Her story was topical because many women want bushier eyebrows like the international supermodel Cara Delevingne
